About the Event

In Türkiye, the daily wastewater production is approximately around 17,000 million cubic meters. The majority of this amount originates from municipalities, industrial facilities, agriculture, and non-agricultural activities.

The total capacity of wastewater treatment plants in Türkiye is continuously increasing. As of 2022, there are approximately 9,000 wastewater treatment plants in the country, with a total capacity averaging around 98 million cubic meters per day.

Overall, there is a need to increase infrastructure and technological investments for the recycling and reuse of wastewater.

Various municipalities and private sector organizations in Türkiye are carrying out wastewater recycling projects. These projects play a significant role in areas such as agricultural and industrial use of recycled wastewater, which is used as irrigation water.

The integrated management of wastewater is crucial in the water cycle.

Preserving and improving the health of water and terrestrial ecosystems, maintaining and enhancing drinking water quality, ensuring food production safety, and maximizing flood control and increasing wastewater treatment rates are the main objectives of the activities.
